How to make your ambigram
- Enter up to 20 letters from the supported alphabet. ASCII lowercase becomes uppercase, outer spaces are removed and repeated spaces become one regular space. Punctuation, numbers and other alphabets are unsupported.
- Read the automatically calculated 180° result. MOM becomes WOW; NOON and SWIMS keep their reading. The optional second field checks a reading you want against that exact result, including word order and spaces.
- Switch between 0° and 180° to inspect the same drawing. Download SVG for scalable vector editing or PNG for a raster reference. Both exports have a transparent background and follow the selected orientation.
How the two readings share one drawing
Each original glyph uses a 5 × 7 grid of filled squares. H, I, N, O, S, X and Z keep their shape after a half turn. M turns into W and W turns into M. Rotating the whole composition also reverses the order of its letters and words; the tool computes the second reading from those exact rules.
A limited alphabet with a visible result
This tool cannot transform arbitrary names or arbitrary word pairs. Letters such as A, E, L and R are outside this alphabet, so pairs such as LOVE / HATE cannot be built here. The output uses one fixed grid style. It does not use an AI service or design custom calligraphy.
Treat the grid drawing as a lettering draft. Review both orientations with your tattoo artist and choose a physical size and placement that preserve the gaps between strokes. Changes to the letter shapes can change the second reading.
