Foo dog tattoos: modern guardian lions

Foo dog is used here as a search name for stylized guardian-lion imagery. These modern generated studies show feline faces, curled manes and clawed paws: a frontal head, one seated lion on a plinth and two inward-facing lions on separate bases. They are not domestic dogs or reproductions of a specific museum object. The pair is not assigned universal gender, mouth, paw, ball or cub roles, and the artwork makes no promise of protective effects.

Curated concept artwork. Placement tags suggest adaptations of flat designs; they are not on-skin previews.

A starting brief for your artist

Choose head, single seated lion or pair. Mark the full outer mane and base width. Ask the artist to simplify small curls without losing eyes, muzzle, fangs and paw boundaries; for a pair, specify spacing and direction rather than inventing historical ritual rules.

Details to decide together

  • Keep fang tips separate from the dark open mouth.
  • Retain the seated lion’s paw-to-plinth contact line.
  • Measure both bases and the central gap for the pair.
