Lighthouse tattoo ideas: rocks, wave, night

A lighthouse tattoo can be a vertical tower study or a wider coastal scene. The first design stands above a low rock base, the second places a broad breaking wave in front of a tower and small building, and the third sits under an open arc, crescent and three stars. Loose horizontal water marks surround each base. These are imagined coastal illustrations, so a connection to a particular home port or journey needs your own reference and story.

Curated concept artwork. Placement tags suggest adaptations of flat designs; they are not on-skin previews.

A starting brief for your artist

Choose tower, wave or night scene. Measure from the top finial to the lowest water marks, then include the full rock or wave width. If the design should depict a real lighthouse, give the artist photos of its lantern, windows and base rather than assigning a landmark name to this sheet.

Details to decide together

  • Keep the lantern railings distinct from the tower’s small windows.
  • Preserve a readable gap between the breaking wave and the small building.
  • Include the arc, crescent and all three stars in the night scene’s planned height.
